RESTAURANT OWNER TO PAY $200,000 FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT

The EEOC files suit against a restaurant Georgina’s LLC, and later its successor, Anthony’s Little G’s, in Traverse City alleging the owner made sexual comments toward the sous chef and made inappropriate touching and kissing without consent as well as repeated requests for sexual favors towards the other female employees. The sous chef complained to the manager but thereafter had her hours changed and was later fired. The restaurant owner opened a new restaurant called Anthony’s Little G’s after the suit was filed and the agency amended the complaint to include Georgina’s successor. Ultimately the company reached a settlement with the agency of $200,000 in back pay and compensatory and punitive damages and the company was required to provide two hours of interactive training on sexual harassment and retaliation.
